As those of you who take a birth control pill know, prices have skyrocketed over the last couple of years.
At the moment, the 2009 Appropriations Bill is being debated in the U.S. Senate, and included in this bill are regulations to restore affordable birth control. It passed in the House, and is slated to be on President Obama's desk this Friday.
Unfortunately, Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina is attempting to strip the affordable birth control provision from the bill, characterizing it as "an earmark for Planned Parenthood" even though it doesn't cost the government anything.
Please call your Senators now and encourage them to keep the Affordable Birth Control provision in the 2009 Appropriations Bill. To find your Senators' phone numbers, go to: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?OrderBy=state&Sort=ASC

Kristin, great post. This is exactly the kind of thing that women need to know about before it happens, not afterward.
I thought this RHReality Check article that explains exactly what the provision WILL do was good:

Sen. DeMint has introduced an amendment to strip the affordable birth control provision from the appropriations bill. When you call your senator, you need to ask them to vote "no" on the DeMint amendment.
