I to have had migraines since I was 35 and was put on estrogen patches but they did not help much. I later learned that the patch should be changed after 3 days not after 4 as recommended on the package, since the estrogen starts getting depleted before 4 days. My best remedy was a doctor who recommended 0.5 mg estradiol tablets, one a day to help even out the pellets. As you can see some people get all the hormones within a certain time. I run lower after about 6 weeks, but I do get the migraine at different times of the month now. I use to get it during my period so the patch didn't help. Also the prometrium can cause headaches, check side effects. Good luck. Hope you can get this solved. I was also told that testerone at a higher dose helps with headaches. I have not found that to be true. Dr. Andrew Weil a Harvard graduate and MD who believes in integrative medicine of mind, body, spirit doesn't like hormones and even claimed in my last Prevention magazine it could cause breast cancer. I think my head is spinning sometimes from all the info. Jan

Just had my first insertion on Friday. I hope it works...I have pretty much tried everything in the last four years. I am 46, had a hysterectomy five years ago. Felt fine the first year, but downhill ever since.

They seem to be great but they (Dr's) don''t tell you about your falling out and the wieght gain. You ccan take MORE pills for the hair problem and I guess you can work on losing the wieght gain also.

Anon, I just read your post about your hair loss due to the pellets and wondering if you are still on them and if your hair came back. I am having the same issue and my dr put me on propecia. Can you tell me how you are doing now?

Diane - 'Anon' from Midwest here - he didn't have anything to say about the near manic behavior & I even mentioned my notion about 'maybe they should test bipolars for hormone spikes'. He did apologize for the high dose but said my testosterone had been so low. I'm sure the testosterone is rather nice for married people or anyone in a relationship. I was quite intrigued by another post where the woman stated that because of the testosterone, she began watching porn. I understood exactly how she felt. I really wanted this to work to help with bone density, cholesterol, etc so am very disappointed. I envy those who're able to see the sotto pelle physician in Arizona.

Anon from Midwest -- Gosh. I wish he'd had some insight about the near-manic effects the medicine had on you. And I hate that you feel that you'd get better Sotto Pelle care if you were in Arizona; it seems like all doctors trained in the method should be able to provide the same level of care and understanding about the protocol, regardless of where they practice.
Will you seek another form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for your bone density and cholesterol concerns?

I posted a few days about a terrible spike in testosterone I suffered and for reasons no one has yet to explain. I went to a different dr. yesterday who put me on a prescrip. to block the effects of the testosterone, am taking this for 2 weeks and hopefully by then the crazy high level will have gone down. I've been doubtful of some things the Sotto Pelle dr. has been telling me and after the visit with this new dr. I feel my doubts were confirmed. Putting a woman who is still have cycles on her own is a mistake. Putting all menstruation women on the same calendar days schedule no matter where she is in her cycle is stupid, that does not coincide with the idea of bio-identical/natural hormone help. And the dr. I was seeing does not take thyroid into consideration and has no clue about adrenal exhaustion. Someone with a better knowledge of the endocrine system is who a woman should be looking for when she needs hormone help. And I doubt I ever again use the pellets because of this spiking I suffered and there is nothing to do but wait it out and it has not been and even been dangerous because I felt very suicidal.

Grrr, my post is above and this time I didn't preview it but should have. I meant to say that putting a women who still menstruating on their own on estrogen is a mistake as well as keeping them all on the came calendar days. He has every woman take progesterone on the first day of the month through the tenth day, no matter what.
January 15, 2010 - 11:56amThis dr. is in Paris, TX, he also goes to Richardson one Sat. a month and to Temple, TX one Sat. a month.

Thank you SO much for coming back and updating us. I wish you weren't still feeling the effects of the testosterone so much, and I sure hope the medicine the new doctor gave you helps block those effects.
Please know that your experience will help other women who are working through the same issues with their changing bodies. That may be some small consolation.
Can you tell yet if the suicidal feelings and the rest are subsiding?

Anonymous from Midwest again - When I used the creams, I had no ill effects from the progesterone. I also didn't have much effects at all. The only thing the creams did was allow me to sleep through the night, I was able to dream again (didn't dream after menopause), & my night time leg twitching stopped. My vagina was also a bit less like the Sahara. It didn't elevate my estrogen enough to help with skin tone or hair. As for my bleeding since Nov 1, it was rather heavy with cramps in November, began to taper off in December. Some days I'll bleed for a few hours then it stops for a few hours. It doesn't seem to matter if I take 200 mg or 400 mg or 0 mg progesterone. I've tried cutting back due to the itching nipples from the progesterone. I still have enough testosterone in me that if I start scratching at my nipples, one thing leads to another....with myself. Since I'm nearly 60 & live alone, being horney isn't fun. It ruins my concentration & I get quite scatter brained. SInce my testosterone 'spike' when I first received the 150mg dose, I wondered if perhaps bipolars should get hormone tests to see if their testosterone spikes. I nearly felt bipolar with that spike - spending money, forgetting to pay bills, obsessed with sex, unable to sleep. It was like being manic. I'd really like a way to just have the estsrogen.
