Hello! I am 19 years old and I have noticed for about 4 months that I have a swelled tonsil, only one. I didn't did anything about it at first because when it hurt I waited a while for it to disappear but it actually never went away. When the tonsil stop bothering (didn't hurt anymore) I stopped paying attention but the swelling never went away. Lately I have paid more attention to the fact that it is already 4 or 5 months that I have that same tonsil swelled and painless and I am beginning to worry. Is this something that I should be very worried about?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

We cannot say if this swelling may be dangerous - it may mean that you have inflammation in this area - it may flare now again and then go dormant. It may be that you need your tonsils out. You will need to seek medical advice to know more.

Hello again
I'm glad you got this checked.
The polyp needs to be removed and checked for cancer, no matter what. It's likely to be non-cancerous, as your doctor said.
Once it's removed and checked, you can evaluate the situation with your doctor.
