At night i feel like i need to urinate all the time.. i can go to the toilet, get back in to bed then need it again! Its a nightmare! I have been to the doctors and they sent a urine sample off and they said it was all clear, i do have a kidney problem where my one of my kidneys only functions 25% but i had blood tests only a couple of months ago and they all came back clear as well. In the day i go to the toilet regular but as soon as its bed time i need it all the time. Sometimes i even wake up 2/3 times a night. Help!!

About two years ago I started needing the loo pretty much constantly, and it was particularly effecting me at night - it takes me about an hour to get to sleep because every time I lie down I get back up to go to the loo again, and I wake up every couple of hours to go to the loo once I do sleep. It took a while for the drs to realise (they also suggested it might be in my head etc) but eventually diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis (a long term disease of the bladder) after they performed a cystoscopy. I take tablets now which means that my sleep has improved, and there are some dietary changes you can make to help. Waking up so frequently is so frustrating, I hope that you reach some conclusion soon. It is worth noting that bladder problems take a notoriously long time to be diagnosed, but keep going. Best of luck :)

I don't believe ANYTHING doctors say- the older I get. All they want to do is push drugs, and if they can't troubleshoot something with those then they use the classic, "It's all in your head," relieving them of any responsibility to do anything!
I'm now 42; this issue started around 35, getting up several times at night to pee. I have been to Urologists, who gave me every test known to man, and the best they could come up with is I have a sort of small bladder compared to the average woman- wow; that helps! Then they did this bogus biofeedback machine crap, making me do those kugels and registering the energy I applied to such- another waste of time that went nowhere!
All I can deduce is the urination seems to get more frequent during PMS, but my GYN absolutely insists this is NOT a GYN issue. Again, i have little-no faith in doctors anyway.
I'm willing to try anything at this point, as I can't take having to take nap(s) every day simply to function!!
Anyone have any answers/relief suggestions?
MUCH appreciated!

I woke up 8 times last night to urinate. i have tried EVERYTHING- nothing works! as much as people insist it has to do with fluid intake, they are wrong. there are nights I drank NOTHING after 4pm and STILL woke up FOUR times to go to the bathroom. it severely affects my ability to function, as the most i ever sleep is for two hours in a row....
HELP!!!!

Same as my experience right now. I felt annoyed by this situation I had right now; keep waking up each time I just lied on my bed and the urge is still there, trying to control with the urge but it happens the same that I need to visit toilet to let it go. And it's bit by bit, thanks to the situation I had now, I can't sleep well at night due to lack of sleep and the next day I got very tired or easy tempered. Please help me to solve this problem. Thank you so much.

That happens sometimes to me to. What I do is I dont drink anything an hour before bed that usually helps. Try to eat and drink healthy things to water, oatmeal, lots of fruits and veggies as well. I hope that you can get some other advice and get some answers too. Keep us posted!

Bexiboo--

I'm sorry you're being awakened at night to constantly urinate. When a person urinates frequently at night, it's called Nocturia. Here are some of the causes for what you have:
* Behavioral patterns
* Diuretic medications
* Caffeine
* Alcohol
* Overactive bladder treatment
* Excessive fluids before bedtime
* Diminished nocturnal bladder capacity- This can be due to decreased functional or nocturnal bladder capacity. Urine production will then exceed the bladder capacity causing the individual to be awakened in order to void.
* Fluid redistribution- When a person lies down to sleep, fluid is reabsorbed into the blood stream. During the day, gravity causes fluid to accumulate in the body’s lower extremities. When this happens, the kidneys clean the increased fluid in the blood by producing more urine. This leads to excess fluid in legs, ankles, and fingers causing them to swell.

Sometimes, there are underlying conditions such as restless leg syndrome, diabetes, and heart disease can be the cause of the frequent night time urination. Have you been tested for any other conditions aside from testing your urine?
