Q:

I am a single mother of 3. My youngest is 8 and oldest 17. Why is my hair falling out around the edges and at the back? In 2009 I was under a lot of stress due to a relationship that resulted in him cheating with my cousin and whom he is still with.

That heartbreak took a real hard toll on me. I lost 60 pounds. Why is my hair falling out. I take iron pills. I think it is something else.

Hi Msbisd1

Hair falling out like this can have numerous causes. It can be from things like a thyroid or adrenal problem, stress, nutritional deficiency. I suggest you see your primary physician for a full work up to rule out any disease process. This should involve a physical exam and blood work. You can't really do anything about the hair loss until you know the cause.

Please see your primary provider for a diagnosis. It sounds like you have no time to be sick because you had untreated symptoms. Let us know what happens, will you?

Thank you for writing and good luck.
