Genital Wart Question

I've just found out that I have Genital HPV (The one that causes warts) and I'm pretty sad about it, mainly because I've always used protection. My question is, since I only have one small wart, should I use a topical gel to burn it of or should I just wait it out? I've done extensive research on this. Some say if the wart is not getting bitter/not bothering me, it is best to leave it alone. Others say, to get rid of it because the wart itself will turn into cancer. My thing is, I don't want to mess with it, if it might go away on its own. However, if it is a smarter idea to burn it of then I'll also do that. I just want to know for sure since burning it of doesn't guarantee that it won't come back. Please help...Thanks

Thank you so much Daisy. I have decided to use the topical cream, to burn it of. I'm truly glad that I found this website.

Hi Inner Peace,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Even when warts are treated, the HPV virus may remain. This is why warts can come back after treatment.

If left untreated, genital warts may:

  • Go away
  • Remain unchanged
  • Increase in size or number

The warts will not turn into cancer.
