I took plan b after unprotected sex with my husband 2 1/2 weeks ago, exaclty on my most fertile day (didnt realize that until later). Had possibly breakthrough bleeding one week after that, one week before my expected period. Now I'm 5 days late of my scheduled period and have been having minor cramping (which i rarely if ever get regularly) and slight nausea. Whenever I did have any cramping before AF it only lasted one day tops! Any imput as to what could be causeing the cramping?

Hello Anonymous,
Plan B will be effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
Are you still taking birth control?
Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It can cause changes in your menstrual cycle. Your next period can start earlier or later than expected, but usually not by more than five days. Flow might be lighter or heavier than normal.
If you have no bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, test for pregnancy and speak with your gynecologist.

Hi, my last period was 3rb feb. Had unprotected sex 14th feb, my fertile window was 13th -17th feb. I've been having cramping on and off since having sex. I took the map 17hrs later. I've read if over weight the map won't work, is that true.

Hello Anonymous,
That is correct. All emergency contraceptive pills, regardless of type, appear to be significantly less effective for obese women.
Plan B One-Step, the U.S.' best-known "morning-after pill," is warning patients that its product doesn't work well for women who weigh more than 165 pounds. And it doesn't work at all for women over 176 pounds.
Anonymous, all that you can do is wait for bleeding or your period to start.

I took plan b 4/5 hours after the condom broke during sex. 2 weeks later I had a light period and then another lighter bleed 3 weeks after that. It has been 7.5 weeks since the encounter and I have not had sex since then. I am also over 175 pounds. I way weighed around 215/220 at the time of taking plan b. I am experiencing a constant stomach pain almost almost like a turning feeling all day. Should I be concerned?

Hello Anonymous,
I do not think you need to be concern about pregnancy because you did have two periods, though light, after taking Plan B.
However, a constant stomach pain is a concern. Consider speaking with your physician about this.

On February 2, 2017, I had unprotected sex. He didn't ejaculate inside me, but after he ejaculated, he wiped it off and went back in. This was around 10:00am. The next day around 7:00pm I took a Plan B. It is now a week later and I'm experiencing cramps on my right side. Could I be pregnant? I'm really worried because my predicted ovulation day was February 4, 2017 And I'm scared the plan b was ineffective due to how close my ovulation day was.

Hello Anonymous,
Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, so it may have worked for you.
Stomach cramps are a side effect of the pill, but are temporary and last a few days. If you are still having cramps a week or more later, you may want to speak with your physician.
If you do not have any bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, then test for pregnancy.

Hi Maryann,
120 lbs, 25 years old
Dates of last cycles: 01/19/17, 12/21/16, 11/20/16 (approx. 30 day cycle)
I had unprotected sex on the evening of February 4, 2017 (to be clear, with ejaculation, inside of me). According to most online ovulation calculators, 4 Feb was my "peak" ovulation day. I realized this on the following morning and took generic Plan B (after 12 hours, before 24 hours). I was experiencing light cramping prior to sex on the 4 Feb, which I attributed to ovulation cramping, although I have not experienced this before. I have been experiencing mild to moderate (mostly moderate) cramping/abdominal pain and some bloating since, almost continuously. Also, yesterday afternoon, 8 Feb, I felt so nauseated that I needed to leave work, although I did not vomit. (On the way to the car, I also experienced some dizziness.) I have noticed mood swings (hormonal changes perhaps attributable to Plan B?). have not had any bleeding, spotting, or vaginal discharge that I would consider abnormal for this time of the month. I am most concerned about the nearly continuous cramping I am experiencing in my abdomen. I am also wondering about your experience with women who have taken Plan B post-ovulation (as I likely did).
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Hello Anonymous,
Plan B prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It is possible that the pill prevents fertilization and implantation.
Taking it after ovulation may reduce its effectiveness. You will know it was effective once you experience bleeding.
If the cramping and other side effects worsen or persist, please contact your physician. If you do not have any bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, test for pregnancy.
