Q:

Could I possibly be pregnant?

Hi, I have sent this over three times but for some reason it never posted, so... Here I am again, hoping this time it'd post.
So, I have a weird question, it's quite stupid sounding but I don't have much knowledge about sex and pregnancy so I have to get this off my chest.
A few months back, maybe three I had an itch down there so I used wipes to help clean it, as I prefer them rather to intimate wipes.
It did help, but I ran out of wipes so I went to buy more, and all they had were really cheap ones, so I bought them. When I used them, they kinda burned cause they were scented but that pretty much it.

I should probably also add that I cleaned quite thoroughly.
Since then, I traveled for a week, a 4 hour flight and an hour of a time difference. I have to say that I must've gained weight cause I was on holiday and was kinda eating whatever... (Also I am on gap year before college and still eating alot... Boredom or something lol). When traveling I should've gotten my period but I didn't probably cause my body was recovering from traveling, and it was two weeks late, three day normal flow period, one day spotty which is my norm.
Long story short, I now have a belly kinda, I almost always feel bloated... Could the cheap wipes possibly have had something that has gotten me pregnant? Please help me. I am so worried. I know it's stupid but I grew up Christian and so talking about sex is just not acceptable. ALSO HAVE TO MENTION I AM 18 AND A VIRGIN! NEVER EVEN KISSED ANYONE!
I'd appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Melodie.

Hi Anon,

Thanks for sharing your question, and welcome to the EmpowHER community!

To start, since you are a virgin and have not yet have sex, it is impossible for you to be pregnant. A wipe cannot get someone pregnant. Actual sexual intercourse must occur in order for a pregnancy to occur. I hope that eases some fears.

It sounds like the wipes may have causes a little bit of irritation. Sometimes ingredients in products, especially if they are scented, can affect people in different ways. It sounds like they may have caused a little reaction to you. But there is no way that can cause pregnancy.

You mentioned that you have been traveling and that you also gained a little weight. Travel can sometimes affect our bodies in different ways and the bloating is most likely from the weight gain and maybe eating more foods.

A variety of things can also cause changes to our periods, including stress, travel, medication, weight loss and gain, and birth control. It's very possible the combination of travel and a little weight gain have affected your period.

There is no reason to worry about pregnancy at all though. There is zero chance you are pregnant if you have not had sex.
