i have a friend that has an enlarge heart (cardiomegaly), but the doctor said that he just needed to gain weight in order for his heart to be at normal size for he's body. so would this mean that if he gains weight his cardiomegaly would be gone? and can cardiomegaly be inherited?

Hi roses,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Some of the causes of an enlarged heart can be due to high blood pressure, heart valve disease, disease of the heart muscle, heart attack, a heart condition in which you are born with (congenital heart disease), abnormal heartbeat and many other. He needs to discuss with his doctor his condition and any test results.

Best,

Daisy
