You're right Susan, HIV is no longer an automatic death sentence and I have talked with women who have lived with the disease more than 15 years. Fortunately, one of them is now in the businsess of educating other women about the importance of testing for HIV/AIDS.

And yes, I have been tested twice for HIV (once in college and once shortly after) and my tests came back fine. At the time (the late 80s and early 90s,) there was a lot focus on the issue as numerous celebrities were engaged in learning more about how to fight AIDS. I'm not sure I agree with mandatory testing for HIV/AIDS because it seems like a slippery slope in terms of what else may become mandatory.

The New York Times ran a story this week on mandatory testing in the Bronx which got me a little riled ..
