Wow, this is truly extraordinary! And apparently this surgery has only been done 20 times around the world.
What amazes me is how the surgeons completely brought the mom's uterus out of her body in order to do the surgery.
I could totally relate to the couple when they said they decided to name their baby girl right after they found out that something was horribly wrong. They felt the need to give her an identity since she was given only a 10 percent chance of living. And they chose what they felt was a very meaningful name: Macie Hope.
That happened to my ex-husband and I when we went in for what was supposed to be a routine sonogram and discovered that things were horribly wrong with our twin pregnancy. One of our first reactions was to give our boys their names. We hadn't planned on naming them so early on in the pregnancy, but we suddenly felt so strongly about it.
Has anyone else experienced this with a scary/high risk pregnancy -- where you've named your baby without knowing what would happen?
