Call your doctor (again) about your concerns. If he won't do an exam and order the screening, maybe find another doctor who will examine your breast and provide you with a script to have the mammogram. Your PCP perhaps, (primary care physician) assuming the doctor you are speaking of is your GYN. Is this an additional mammogram to a yearly one?
Women ages 40 to 44 should have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms if they wish to do so. Women age 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year. Women 55 and older should switch to mammograms every 2 years, or can continue yearly screening.
