Ruptured silicone implants (as I am sure you know) have caused a plethora of illnesses. Whether it caused yours is not for us to say and you'd be very hard pressed to get a straight answer from a plastic surgeon - they'd likely deny that silicone implants have any side effects.
However, the connection between the implants and auto-immune conditions can't be denied.
I assume your implants are long gone? Many women see an improvement in their health after the implants have been taken out.
I understand the fear of taking Prednisone - it also has terrible side effects on me and my doctor knows it has to be an incredibly serious situation before I would ever take it again.
Unfortunately, this kind of steroid is the one needed to treat your Polymialga Rheumatica. Other anti-inflammatories generally don't work.
There is the option of staying on a low dose for a couple of years - did your symptoms (side effects) get better when your dose was lower?
