Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community for advice.

It is too early to say whether or not you or your wife is infertile. Infertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant despite having frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year for most couples. You probably don't need to see a doctor about infertility unless you have been trying regularly to conceive for at least one year.

How old are you and your wife? Is your wife's menstrual cycles regular?

The biggest secret to getting pregnant quickly is knowing when your wife ovulates.
Ovulation happens once a month, usually in the middle of the menstrual cycle. There are just a few days during that time when it's possible to conceive. Knowing when she ovulates means that you and your partner can time intercourse to have the best chance of getting pregnant that cycle.

Once you know the timeframe of ovulation, you can plan to have sex during her most fertile days, which is usually about three days before ovulation through the day you ovulate.

Sperm can survive for three to six days in her body. A released egg survives for only about a day. That means if you have sex on Monday, sperm can survive in her fallopian tubes until Thursday – or even as late as Sunday.

If you're not sure when her fertile period will be, just have sex every other day. This means you'll have healthy sperm in her fallopian tubes whenever an egg gets released.

Hope this helps,
Maryann
