Coinciding with estrogen deficiency- at menopause- which affects every organ fuction, brain and cardiovascular system most significantly, increases this risk. If u add to it insomnia which alone is linked to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, depression, and lower judgment skills, then a perfect recipe is formed for a decreased life span.
One point here, though, it was not mentioned whether those ladies studied were on HRT treatment, or not, which could make a difference.
