Why are there ethical issues? The parents wanted to make this life decision and the technology was there, which they were willing to pay for.
What gives anyone the right to second guess them because they are older than some arbitrary age set in the mind of the [all-knowing?] doctor.
The reality of health freedom is that anyone has the right to make their own decisions about the disposition of their own body.
That said, I think PERSONALLY that it is irresponsible and narcissistic in the extreme BUT it is the right of the mother to do so if she wishes. As a health freedom advocate, I applaud them for making their own decisions.
