Your body is not able to maintain the same flow it used to because of several factors taking a toll on your body.
Without proper calorie intake and hydration your body conserves its energy and focuses on your main organs. This means your period gets put on the back burned so to speak.

Stress, and anxiety also greatly affect your hormones causing irregular or missed periods.
Having a missed period does not necessarily mean the problem is your reproductive system.

In your case, since your body is not getting the proper nutrition, hydration, and relaxation it needs, your menstrual cycle will change because your body does not have the strength for it.
This is a natural response of the female body.
