Glad to hear that you have spoken with your gynecologist about the increased hair loss and weight gain.
How long have you been on this oral contraceptive? What brand are you taking? By any chance, do you have a family history of premature hair loss/
I found an article written by a woman with a family history of premature androgenetic alopecia, or diffuse hair loss, who was taking Loestrin, and started experiencing noticeable hair loss.

Studies have shown that the effect of the birth control pill on weight is small, if it exists at all. Instead, you may be retaining more fluid, which can make you feel as if you've put on weight, particularly in your breasts, hips and thighs. The estrogen in birth control pills does affect fat cells, making them larger but not more numerous.
Jen, talk with your gynecologist about all available birth control options, and ask if your thyroid levels could be checked.
