How large are your mugs of coffee? Three 8 ounce servings of coffee a day are okay. If you do not like how you feel with your current coffee consumption, then indeed you should cut back.

A healthier way to get the energy your body needs to function both physically and mentally is to eat a healthy diet. In the morning consider complex carbohydrates like whole grain toast, bagel or cereal. Oatmeal is good. Fresh fruit, like an orange or banana will boost your energy levels.

Eat lunch. If you start to drag in the afternoon, eat a snack of fresh fruit, dried fruits or an energy bar. Keep well hydrated by drinking a least six 8 ounce glasses of water. If you can, take a walk outside when you start to feel sluggish.

Gradually cut back on your coffee consumption. Try eliminating the midday cup as a start.
