Dear Anon,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and for sharing your question about CRPS. I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time keeping up, but I am inspired that you are a fighter! Having a positive outlook is amazing!

The cause of CRPS is not known. The condition likely results from several factors. It may involve overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, which directs automatic body functions that a person cannot control. Inflammation also may play a role in the disorder.

In some cases, it may go away on it's own or there are many courses of treatment options. Click here for more information on treatment options.

Anecdotal evidence suggests early treatment, particularly rehabilitation, is helpful in limiting the disorder, but this benefit has not yet been proven in clinical studies. More research is needed to understand the causes of CRPS, how it progresses, and the role of early treatment.

Anon, did this help? I wish you the best!

Best,

Kristin
