Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your questions.

It is safe to assume that your gynecologist wrote the prescription for Junel fe 1/20 and is aware that you switched from Generess. Did your physician discuss how you should make the switch safely so that you would be protected against pregnancy?

According to Drugs.com, "You will take your first pill ( Junel fe 1/20) on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after your period begins. You may need to use back-up birth control, such as condoms or a spermicide, when you first start using this medication. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Take one pill every day, no more than 24 hours apart. When the pills run out, start a new pack the following day. You may get pregnant if you do not take one pill daily."

Anonymous, did you start your period on the fourth day of Generess fe placebo pills?

Please consult your gynecologist with your questions before taking an emergency contraceptive. If it has been more than 72 hours since having sex, it is too late to be effective, and may not be necessary.

Regards,
Maryann
