Guide

Hello Bashful,

I can appreciate how much you and your husband want to conceive and understand your hesitation to get your hope up.

During pregnancy, the cells that form the placenta produce a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin or hCG. Levels of hCG can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 to 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general, the hCG levels will double every 72 hours.

With newer home pregnancy tests that detect very small amounts of hCG, it is possible to test as early as seven days past ovulation. However, there is also a good chance that implantation has not occurred yet or that you are not producing hCG at a high enough level to be detected by a home pregnancy test.

For best results, it is still recommended to wait until you have missed your period or 14 days past ovulation. I suggest you try one more test, be certain to read and follow the directions carefully.

Please keep us updated,

Maryann
