Hello Anonymous,
First, let me explain how birth control pills work.
Active birth control pills contain either two hormones- estrogen and progestin or progestin only. The hormones in the pill protect you from getting pregnant by keeping eggs from leaving the ovaries and by making cervical mucus thicker, which keeps sperm from getting to the egg.
The inactive pills or placebo pills contain no hormones. When you take them, hormone levels drop and your period will start.
By accidentally taking an active instead of placebo pill, you simply gave your body a dose of hormones. That may cause your period to start a little later.
Finish the current pack, then start a new pack. You will be protected if you take your pills daily and at the same time each day.
