Hi Anonymous

I have a very young dog in stage 3 kidney failure. The disease is pretty much the same in dogs and humans, as are the meds and things to watch for. My vet is a holistic one, and I suggest you find a holistic medical practitioner in your area to work with your health care team so that each doc is aware of what the other is prescribing. Some herbals interact with prescription meds.

My dog is on several probiotics and other natural substances to help keep his kidneys functioning as efficiently as possible. He eats prescription food as well. If you'd like, I can give you a list of the substances in his supplements for you to take and discuss with the doctors. It seems to be improving my dog's bloodwork quite a bit. Send me a private message if you'd like this information.

The main thing to remember is that the doctors must all be aware of each supplement and med your family member is taking, natural or not. That way nothing interacts or accidentally makes things worse.

Good luck and thanks for writing.
