Hello Anonymous,

A hormonal imbalance of some sort would be the cause. The menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. Any upset, such as during periods of high stress, a thyroid gland issue, perimenopause, extreme weight gain or weight loss, and marked increase in physical activity, can cause a missed or late period.
