Hi Maloum

Your weight loss doesn't have to get off track with surgery. You are likely already in perimenopause, so while there may hormonal effects, the change likely won't be quite as big as if you were younger and going through this.

It will be important to eat the best diet you can. It helps your body heal faster, and decreases inflammation as well as the side effects of pain medication that can leave you bloated and constipated. You probably will have a bit of a decreased appetite during your immediate recovery, and that will help counter the decreased activity a bit.

You may plateau a little until you can increase your activity to the level you are going at now, but you will be able to walk on flat surfaces and eat healthily, so with some work I don't think you have to worry about backsliding as much as you fear.

If we can help you further, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck to you and congratulations on the weight loss. It takes a lot of work, especially for those of us in our forties!
