Anon - Yes, some patients have a partial removal. Do you have an endocrinologist who is responsible for the overall management of your care? I would discuss your concerns and options with your endocrinologist. If you are not comfortable with the recommendations of the surgeon who wants to do a full removal I would work with your endocrinologist to get a recommendation for a second surgeon to meet with for a second opinion. You may, or may not, be a candidate for a partial removal but you won't know unless you thoroughly explore all of your options. Good luck to you.
