Why would anyone cut off all there damaged hair at one time? From the looks of it "Pat" has pretty short hair LOL. I would just get a trim every 4-6 months. You said your hair grows slow, so maybe every 6 months would be fine. By trimming your hair after it has grown in a bit, you are allowing some extra length to play with. I tend to wrap mine up a few times a week too. This helps keep the sun and earthy chemicals off of it a while. I also do not wash it too much, maybe two or three times a week depending on the weather and if I get it really dirty. For some reason the dirt seems to protect it as well.
