If you're happy to be circumcised, that's great, but why would sex before have been painful? It sounds like there might have been a problem, and circumcision may not have been the best way to fix it. Most intact men don't find sex painful and are more than happy to stay intact. Personally, I'd pay a year's salary rather than be circumcised.
One study of adult circumcision found that: "About 6% answered that their sex lives improved, while 20% reported a worse sex life after circumcision."
