Guide (reply to Anonymous)

Hello Anonymous,

Plan B contains evonorgestrel, the same ingredient used in many birth control pills—and it works in a similar way.

Depending upon where you are in your cycle, Plan B may work in one of these ways-- it may prevent or delay ovulation or it may interfere with fertilization of an egg. It is also possible that it prevents implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus by altering its lining.

It is possible that in your case, Plan B worked by the third mentioned mechanism and that may explain the heavier menstrual flow.
