Thank you for your question. I was intrigued by your story but unaware of any relationship between IUD's and irregular heart rhythms (arrythmias). There are a few reports of certain types of abnormal heart rhythms during INSERTION of IUD's or other procedures involving manipulation of the cervix. These are most commonly slowing of the heart rate (bradycardia), a process similar to passing out during straining (vasovagal reaction). There are rare reports of the heart speeding up but not specifically SVT. I found no reports of arrythmias occurring after the IUD had been in place.
That said, there is no way to know for sure whether there is a connection in your case. The most important thing, of course, is that you are no longer having palpitations. If your palpitations return, you should return to your cardiologist for further evaluation. Good Luck!!!
