I would appreciate it if some of you could write back what happened after your IUD was removed. I had mine removed in the beginning of August due to multiple side effects - two anxiety attacks, almost a month of heart palpitations last fall which led to me wearing a monitor but finding nothing to blame it on, and the inability to cope. Sounds familiar, eh? I am normally a very resilient person, but after trying the IUD for the first time after my third child, I had a horrible next 19 months. I suspected the IUD and, after reading multiple blogs, found a hormone specialist who agreed that we should take it out. Within three days of having it removed, I felt like a new person. No panicking, no increased heart rate or feelings of desparation. I could think clearly (many women blame IUDs for brain fog), and my bloating went down two inches at the waist. However, for the past 10 days, I have had heart palpitations again and am feeling anxiety coming on. I put an inquiry in with my doctor and am waiting to hear back. She did tell me initially that the progestin in Mirena has a very different molecular structure than what we produce naturally, and that not all women do well on it. She cautioned that I will experience highs and lows of estrogen and progesterone as my body starts to produce it's own progesterone again, and I think I may be in the middle of one of those larger anomolies, perhaps leading up to my first cycle. ??? I have progesterone cream but am hesitant to use it with the heart palpitations simply because I don't understand them. Also, in the TMI category, I did have a very light "period" after removal and nothing since. I would like to hear WHAT THE THREE MONTHS POST-REMOVAL WAS LIKE for anyone who reads this. It would help me and others manage our expectations. Please share. And if you are having problems and your doctor isn't listening, I encourage you to find a new one. It took me three tries. Consider a hormone specialist. :-) I will write in again after two more months.
Thanks,
