Hi anonymous,
Please call your doctor's office and/or take a look either at the articles I provided or your package insert that came with your pills. As you know, when you don't take your pill for days, and have sex, it's considered unprotected sex, so you should be using a backup method like condom, spermicide, or withdrawal. When you take your pills regularly and on time, it's considered protected sex (from pregnancy, not STD/STIs).
If you find you forget a lot, call your doctor and ask if maybe a different method of birth control would be right for you. Otherwise, you may want to adopt a regular backup method to make sure you don't invite more risk of pregnancy.
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
