I have been diagnosed with vulvar lichen planus a cousin to lichen sclerosis. I have suffered with this since I was 16 and was told I was crazy for all the pain I was feeling inside the inner labia and on the clitoris.
Finally, I found a doctor who biopsied the red area of my inner labia and that is when I was diagnosed. I use clobetesol ointment when needed. You have to be careful because it can thin the tissue in that area and make matters worse. I also take Gabepentin for the nerve pain that is a result and that seems to lessen the episodes or frequency of episodes.
