I had to come on here. I did not get the flu shot this year and will never get one again. Two years ago I received my first flu shot at age 49. It was painful and I did have localized pain at the shot site for about three weeks. Then it would sporadically flare up and throb just as if I had just had a shot (of course the pain was not as severe). This is where it gets bizarre though. I am still (yest well over a year later) having pain in this exact same location. It flares up periodically and I know it's from that dang shot. My doctor said he has never heard of this but did say that if a nerve was involved, it could have been destroyed. I am convinced it is nerve damage. I wish they'd be more up-front about the risks.
