Michelle. how old is the daughter? I always like to try the natural approach first, so I would highly recommend contacting the University of Arizona, Integrative Medicine Department http://www.integrativemedicine.arizona.edu/index.html
to see if there is a better way to manage her lupus. Dr Weil is the Director and Dr Maize is amazing. I am sure they will be happy to refer them to a practitioner that can offer beyond what mainstream medicine can.
