Have you ever wondered why hormones are the big divide with women. You either love 'em or you hate 'em. I'm firmly in the love 'em camp -- and that's because I've read, well, pretty much every study on hormones. And it's this kind of reporting that gets me all riled up. Firstly, the study was done two years ago and in Scandinavia, where the allergen load is very different from ours. Secondly, the study increased RISK, not incidence of asthma. Thirdly, if you look at context and how polluted our world is, it will be amazing if any of us get through our lives without some kind of wheezing and sneezing (yes, men go through it too). If you look at depth at this article in WSJ, it speaks more to environmental factors than HRT. And by the way, what kind of HRT? Interesting that another article appeared in the Journal Allergy. I haven't seen that article but I'm going to wager the research was funded by a pharmaceutical company seeking to sell more allergy product by creating a bigger problem. So let's all slow down here and actually scrutinize the study. And please, let's not throw out the baby with the bath water. Pamela Tames
