I started with a swollen gland on the left side of my neck and my left earlobe was extremely painful. I didn't go to the doctor because I thought it was just a swollen gland or a tight muscle that would get better. Well, when it didn't, I went to a doctor. Sadly, he told me I had an outer ear infection and gave me antibiotics. The next day I decided I didn't believe him. I went to my ENT and she told me that I had shingles. It was as clear as day to her. Always get a second opinion. Anyway, I also got a flu shot a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if it's related because I had gotten flu shots in prior years and never had a problem.
