As a matter of fact, I have - with my doctor's permission - increased my dose of Sarafem during the two weeks prior to my period. I also have experimented with not taking any medication whatsoever during the first two weeks of my cycle, and then began the medication during the final two weeks. Both options have worked out great for me. I suggest that you speak with your physician prior to doing so, but if she seems unaware of this option please seek additional assistance. When I first approached my doctor with this question she didn't seem to know if it was okay to "play" with the medicine, but later told me that she received additional information stating that this was indeed a good alternative, and was recommended within the medical community.

Good luck, Nancy!
