Does getting a tattoo on the stomach hurt?

I'm considering getting a tattoo on stomach, but I'm concerned about the level of pain. Can anyone with experience share their opinion? I'm interested to know if the pain is tolerable or if it's particularly intense in this area. Also, are there any tips for preparing or mitigating the pain during the process? I appreciate any help you can provide!
