Hi Anonymous,
November 12, 2010 - 1:16pmThanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. Is there a particular reason you are not able to refill your prescription until Nov. 17th? Many doctors will call in a refill if you have an upcoming appointment. If this medication is something you need, you should call the doctor's office and explain to them the situation and they will tell you how to proceed.
Here is an informational sheet on the drug for you to consider:
Fluoxetine
As with many antidepressant, it is not recommended to abruptly stop taking it. Your doctor may prefer a tapering off, so it may be a good idea to consult with them about this as mentioned. If you do stop taking your antidepressant abruptly, you may get a rebound effect of your original symptoms or other symptoms. Please the drug information for more explanation.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
