For most of us, as we get older, we hope to become wiser. As we grow, we change and learn things about life that turn us into into more intelligent, better people.

Being HER is starting a new campaign where women can share some of the lessons they’ve learned over the course of their lives. Advice to My Younger Self will mainly feature health and wellness advice for women in their late teens to mid twenties from women who were born during Generation X (born in the early 1960s to mid 1970s). Women born in earlier and later generations are also welcome to contribute.

Below eight women share their advice for millennials.

Hilda, 35.

“Don’t rush into relationships and take your time to find the right person.”

Jessica, 43.

“Don’t ever compromise yourself for anyone and just support yourself in what makes you happy.”

Ellen, 47.

“Get a college education when you’re young before life catches up to you. Once you have a job, get married and have kids, it gets harder as you get older.”

Jeanine, 70.

“Save 10% of each paycheck you get.”

Brandi, 30.

“Don’t beat yourself up for what you can’t change. I thought it was important to be skinny and I wasn’t happy with my body. Now I know that is not important; it’s how you feel.”

Gina, 47.

“Children are your first job. Your career is your second.”

Susan, 53.

“Wear sunscreen or you’ll regret it and take care of yourself as much as possible.”

Anne, 44.

“Start saving money for the future, do not buy anything unless you have the money for it, meaning don’t use credit cards. Finish your degree before getting married and starting a family.”
