As the weather cools down and the fall season comes around, it can sometimes be difficult to want to get out and be active.

But fall isn’t just about the chunky sweaters and boots, or the pumpkin-flavored foods. It’s about getting out and enjoying the season before it passes.

Here are five ways to stay active and enjoy the fall season:

1) Go For a Hike

Going on a hike or a bike ride on a trail is a great way to get out of the house and take in the crisp fall air. You’ll get to experience the nature and beauty of fall while getting a great work out in.

Check out EveryTrail for a list of places to hike and trails around where you live. You can filter by difficulty, length, and even look at photos before you go.

2) Visit a Farmer’s Market

Take a visit to your local farmer’s market for some fall goodies. You’ll most likely be able to score some fresh, locally grown fall fruits and veggies.

Stocking up on these will help you avoid the temptation to fill up on heavy food to stay warm. Focus on making meals around farmer’s market food to make healthy, fulfilling, and cozy fall recipes.

3) Spend Time at a Pumpkin Patch

Put on your best fall attire and head to a pumpkin patch nearby where you live. Pick out a pumpkin for crafting or decoration and take in the picture perfect fall scenery while you’re at it!

You’ll also be getting a lot of exercise in between walking around and carrying pumpkins, so you can cross two things off your list at once!

4) Run a Halloween or Fall Themed Race

If you’re a runner (or even if you’re not) and love this time of year, participate in a Halloween or fall themed race. It’s a fun way to get moving, especially if you are running from zombies or monsters!

Whether it’s The Great Pumpkin Hall in Colorado or the Zombie Run nationwide, it’s an opportunity to break out your best costume and get a killer workout in.

5) Explore a Corn Maze (Haunted or Not!)

This is a fun activity to do alone or with a group of friends. Not only will you experience the natural beauty of fall, you’ll be moving around and staying active throughout the day.

Make it a race if you want and challenge your friends to see who can make it out first. If you choose a haunted corn maze, you’ll get your blood pumping from all jumps and running away you’ll do from the spooky maze dwellers.
