I just had "Her Option" cryo ablation of my endometrial lining four days ago for heavy bleeding, cramps, anemia with my periods. I'd like to know if there are any other ladies out there who have had this procedure and their experience. Didi it work for you? Did it help with PMS too?

I posted desperate message March 17th, but things are much better now. I did continue to pass pieces of tissue and while I wasn't expecting that, I learned it's not uncommon. I think I am going to start a support group through my GYN's office. I'm going in for my 2 week check up today and will let you know how it goes. I am due to start my period on April 2nd and I'll report on that as well as there have been so many with terrible experiences. Take Care. Diane C.

I am supposed to have the procedure done next week which is 2 1/2 weeks before my family and I go on a cruise. After reading all of your posts I have decided to wait until after my trip. All I need is to get a terrible first period on the high seas. I told my dr. about the trip and she didn't say anything about postponing. She also didn't mention anything about a bad first period.

Someone mentioned having the procedure done in the beginning of your cycle when the endometrial lining is thin. Is this true and if so why doesn't everyone schedule based on their cycle so they have an easier time? Thanks for all your comments. You all may have saved my trip from being a disaster!

i had mine done back in june of 08 i had it done with in 2 days of my period ending. dr said this was the best time thin lining. i had watery discharge for 4 weeks then came my first period still heavy & had terrible cramps still 7 days long. the following moth it was only 5 days and not as heavy. i still get my period for 5 days and every 28 days like clock work. the actual procedure was a little painful & i kept telling the doctor that i felt cold. He said i was the first one to ever say this. good luck out there & i beleive you made the best choice on waiting until you get back from your trip to have this done

All I can say is, "What have I done!?" I had HerOption done 3/11/09 and after reading all these posts I feel like I've made a terrible mistake. I was feeling OK with all the water until this morning when I passed a smelly piece of tissue. This has totally thrown me. I feel so bloated and just very depressed right now. I'm now absolutely terrified of my next period. We'll be visiting family when I'm due to start and it seems I always have a horrific period when we visit these people. I actually borrowed a Depend from my grandmother the last time we visited. It sounds like I'll need to pack them again. Diane C.

Hi- I had my procedure done on 2/18/09 and am still having alot of watery discharge that smells like bad meat. I can handle the discharge except that I always feel like I am wearing a wet saddle. I have even taken to packing whole sets of clothes and extra panties, wipes and boxes of pads. What I am worried about is the smell. In the last 4-5 days it has started to smell like bad meat. I threw up at work yesterday because of the smell and feel so dirty and now I don't even want to be around anyone for fear the odor will reek around me. I have a lot of bloating as well-most likely from the fluid and procedure, but the odor is disgusting. Does this go away. I have never had an odor other than the healthy girl smell and this is sickening. I am so sad about it.

I had the Her Option done exactly 2 years ago. It was uncomfortable..but not the worst thing I've been through. I was 49 at the time and had the procedure done due to heavy periods that lasted 2 weeks. I had the saline ultrasound done where my doctor found I had polps. I have to say I barely had ANY discharge after I had mine done, and my first period was not much at all. Also, about a year later I was feeling really crampy and odd feeling. I went in and my doctor had to go in and create a path inside my uterus for the monthly to come out. She said something about scar tissue but never did really explain much else. Did anyone else out there discover that they did not really have much discharge at all? I actually asked the nurse about it when she called the next day to see how I was doing, she said not everyone gets it. However, from reading most of these posts it seems most do.

My doctor has recently recommended this procedure to me since my birth control pills have caused me to have Hypertension levels of Blood Pressure. She wants me off of birth control completely. However I have had 4 surgeries for Endometriosis and can only control my cramping with my periods with Birth Control pills. I am wondering if anyone else has had this recommended to them purely for cramping pain relief, and if it was successful. I do not have particularly heavy bleeding, due to the birth control pills. My main concern is control over the painful period. I have also heard that those with smaller size uterus have more success with the procedure, and I have been told I have a very small one. Has anyone else heard/had experience with that?

I guess the problem is that all react differently. I had mine done on a Tuesday and was flying by Friday. I am Meg from the first page, just in case I am not signed in.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, my period after the procedure (June of 08) was a 7. It was bad for one to two hours two days instead of for three hours on one day, it lasted a bit longer, and was more annoying.

Now for the good news, my last period was in December. I just didn't get one this month at all. I still had the PMS, fun fun! But it just didn't appear. I was afraid to hope and waited for a week before I believed it.

Always contact your doctor if you have any questions. Remember even women docs who haven't had this procedure done wouldn't know what you are going through. They only know what they learn from the literature and experience with other patients.

I just had Her Option done about 24 hours ago. I had some watery red discharge yesterday, and light pink today. Not a lot, but maybe because I was at the end of my period when I had it done (so maybe I just had a reduced amount left to "lose" at that point in my cycle.) More annoying than anything because I just wish I could put in a tampon! My biggest problem is that I have REALLY bad cramps, and they seem to be getting worse. I am also weak, exhausted, and kinda dizzy when I am standing. I thought that having this done on a Friday would mean I would feel well enough to go back to work on Monday, but it's not looking good at this point (I am on my feet all day as an elementary school teacher). So is this common? I am beginning to wonder if that whole pitch of "you'll be back to normal activities by the next day" was written by the same MEN who like to tell us the same thing about having a c-section.
