I had ankle fusion surgery on my left ankle in Dec of 2007 after suffering from arthritis in my ankles. I just thought I'd see if there are others on here who have been through the same thing.

Hi, Lynda:

I'm going to pose your question for you to our Experts who specialize in bones and joints. They're all busy medical practitioners, so we hope to get an answer as soon as possible.

What options are you weighing, at this point?

I am a 32 yo female who just had ankle fusion surgery on May 13, 2008. I just came across this forum and am so excited to read all of this good information from women who have/are going through the same thing as me! Any advice you can give me about recovery and long-term effects of ankle fusion surgery would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Jennifer

Hi,

I actually had my ankle fused in June 2006. It’s been a long recovery but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

How are you recovering? Are you still in physical therapy?

Great info Susan. Also, here's some good info about arthritis in the foot and ankle from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
