thyroid problem

Hi-I am fairly new to having a thyroid problem. Last year I was in a vehicle accident and had whiplash and a concussion. This year, the following year, I have a thyroid problem. My parents have no problem with their thyroid-but recently my sister was diagnosed with a thyroid problem. Does whiplash have anything to do with having a thyroid problem?

Thank you so much-I have fibromyalgia, and it did not dawn on me that this could also be a contributing factor.

Buster22,

Here is the only link I have found regarding that http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlowe/fmshypot.htm
you will have to scroll down to the bottom question or so.

As far as I understand it, just about any trauma to a person’s body can trigger an autoimmune disease if they are already susceptible to it. If your sister has thyroid disease, it would make sense that it may run in your family.

Hopefully someone else in this community has a little more info on this, and can chime in!

I am sorry to hear that you know have thyroid problems, as they are not always that easy to control. I wish you luck in your health and look forward to having in our group!
