Fibromyalgia Join this Group

Welcome

Welcome and thanks for joining our fibro group. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I'm a nurse with rheumatoid arthritis, and I developed fibro a couple of years after my RA worsened. I see a rheumatologist who is also board certified in pain therapy. My fibro worsened when I became very anemic a couple of years ago, and while we got the anemia under control within a few months, getting the fibro symptoms under better control took over a year.

We are here to support each other and share information. Please don't be shy. Introduce yourself and share your story. You will help others, and in doing so, you will help yourself as well.

Hello ,
I was diagnosed with Fibro close to a year ago. Symptoms have worsened. Doing research and working with doctors. Hoping to find ways to alleviate the pain since there isn't a cure, and remain positive.

Hi! I have had fibro for 20+ years. I am on my own now and am find life increasingly difficult. Both my daughters will be leaving this summer, one to go to college quite a distance away and the other is moving in with a girlfriend but it is time, she is turning 24. I am going through the empty nest thing but also I am really scared about not being able to do things. I have missed more work than ever this year and have had increasing memory issues. My work is physically demanding as I am on my feet almost all the time. Anyway, I didn't mean to unload just introduce myself and say hi!

Thank you for sharing, Crowsister. Yes, we are in the US but I think support is universally helpful.

I'm sorry you are struggling, and I hope the psychiatric stay helps you. You sound like a very strong woman. Please let us know how things are going for you.

I have a number of psychiatric issues, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Chronic Depression, and Dissociative Identity Disorder. These are hard to deal with, and the pain I have been in for a lot of my life has now been diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. The Rheumatologist I saw after the diagnosis confirmed the diagnosis, and also showed me that I have several Rheumatoid Arthritis Markers, but not enough to sustain a diagnosis. I do have Degenerative Arthritis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Raynaud's Syndrome, and Chronic Fatigue.

As a child I was abused mentally and physically and it is believed that this is the foundation for most if not all of these conditions. My life is pretty difficult, I am a stubborn person and will not ask for help, and this has to change, as I age, it becomes impossible to cope.

An aged are facility sent a person round to clean my tiny one room unit - they gave me 1.5 hours a fortnight - the person came once, and vacuumed round things, she was very friendly and nice, but she didn't clean the taps, she didn't even do as much as I do, so I cancelled that. I was only paying $7 but the Govt. was paying the rest, and I did not think she was worth that. The things that I cannot do, reach up and clean the fans, for example, she was not allowed to do.

So I have ended up with no help, though they promised someone would come and talk to me about my isolation, that was a long time ago, and no one has come.

I go back into Psychiatric Hospital in two weeks, that is to work on the DID and I know I need to do this because I really would like to be able to stop switching and stop losing time. I am so tired - and just really fed up. I realise that this Site is in the USA and I am not, but I still think interaction between folk with like ailments can help.

I find this grey font very, very, difficult to read.

Good luck - hope to speak to you again - if I can see what is written!
