With obesity on the rise for children and teens, it's completely understandable that parents are concerned about the health of their children. These five tips can help parents understand their children's health issues.
Exercise
Regular exercise has many physical and mental benefits for your child. Not only does exercise help burn calories and excess fat, exercise can help children gain self-confidence and increase their mental capacity, leading to better grades. Even 10 minutes of daily exercise can have a lot of impact on your child's health.
A question that comes up often is are meal replacement shakes good for teens? Generally speaking, yes, meal replacement shakes can be good for younger children and teens. Meal replacement shakes provide a convenient source of protein, minerals, and vitamins. A word of caution, though. Meal replacement shakes are a great supplement, but they can't compare to a good, healthy diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables and low on excess sugars.
Acne
Ah, pimples. The scourge of teens everywhere. Although there's no surefire way to prevent acne, it's possible to limit your child's chances of getting acne with a few simple tips. Washing your face after exercise is important because sweat can clog your pores and increase your chances of pimples. Also, look for skin care products that are noncomedogenic, meaning that they won't clog pores.
The Talk
The sex talk can be awkward and uncomfortable. But there's so much misinformation about sex out there these days that parents would be wise to make sure that their children are getting the right information. It's important to be honest and upfront and let them know your values and expectations. It's also important to encourage your child to ask questions so that there is absolutely no confusion.
Help Your Kids, Help Yourself
If your children are having trouble sticking to a diet or exercise plan, help them out by going on a diet or exercise plan with them. IF they see you picking better snacks and making better meal choices, they will too. And exercising as a family by going on bike rides or hikes or even going for a walk through the neighborhood helps build family bonds.

Isn't it amazing how much better we take care of our kids than we do ourselves. My daughter has a regular well balanced diet with the occasional treat. I am so conscientious of what she eats and consumes. You would think that by now I would stop shoveling bad food into my mouth and be the role model she deserves.
