Q:

If you have a regular 28 cycle, on the pill but missed the last active one, and had sex that morning should I be concerned?

My period is always regular, my ovulation is regular. I missed the last active pill and had sex that morning. I'm already starting to have cramps so I didn't take start a new pack or anything. My period is supposed to come Wednesday. I had unprotected sex Sunday morning. I should have ovulated exactly two weeks ago( I chart everything). Should I be concerned?

Kristin Marie,

Odds are that you have already ovulated once you're in your last active pill. However, you did miss a pill and then had unprotected sex so the possibility is there. You can wait until wednesday for your period to arrive. If you want to be on the safe side, you can also take a morning after pill up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex, which can be purchased over the counter at your local drug store.

Did you take your missed pill the following day? If so, you should be protected.

Best,

Rosa
