Hi there! I was just wondering if anyone on here has tried this new "Ped Egg" thing I keep hearing about. It sounded sort of interesting and I was reading a lot of positive feedback on it, but then I saw another column that described it as a "cheese grater for feet" and that pretty much skeeved me out so now I'm not sure. I'm Queen Croc, especially in the warm weather, and although Crocs are better than flip flops, my heels get pretty dry and cracked. Thanks for any advice or feedback you might have!

uummmm yeah I agree about being VERY careful about how long or hard you scrub with the ped egg.......apparently I wasn't paying attention while I was watching TV and the next morning...OUCH.......now I'll be waiting for all the new skin to grow back.......I suppose it would work great if I were less enthusiastic while using it....ha ha ha ha vaseline rubbed on your feet and cotton socks does wonders....not to mention it helps keep your cuticles heatly and smooth too!

Hi everyone--thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question! I think I'll pass on the Ped Egg and just stick with the ol' pumice stone and lotion. I have to be more consistent about putting lotion on at night along with socks--like you said, it's a good way to help your heels.

Alison B--the Ped Egg is an egg-shaped device that you rub up and down on your heels and it's supposed to remove all of the dead and dry skin, and (this is gross) then you open up this little cup thingee and toss out all of the dry bits that you just scraped off. I think it's about $20 or so. I think I'll spend my $20 at Target and The Body Shop and get the lotions that were recommended here.

Thanks everyone!

Like Alison mentioned, wearing socks at night can really help. I'll put on a very liberal amount of lotion on my feet and then some thick cotton socks just before I get into bed. In the morning, my heels are as smooth as a baby's bum.

(I did have just one issue as a result, though.... one morning I slipped as I was stepping into my shower because my feet were so lubed up. Fortunately I ended up with just a little bruise, but now I'm extra careful about that....)

I had a friend who swore by the Ped Egg, but it didn't work for me. I'm a fan of the pumice stone and found a very thick peppermint 'foot rescue' lotion at the Body Shop that seems to work for me.

I had the smoothest feet I've EVER had after getting a pedicure, and they did use the "cheese grater" on my heels. (I honestly don't know what the "Ped Egg" is).

I then bought the "cheese grater" to try at home, and here's my results: one heel was really smooth, the other, I got a little carried away on the dead skin and actually took off healthy skin! I didn't realize it at the time, because your heel becomes numb from all the scrubbing; your neck gets sore from looking down, and mistakes can easily happen. I didn't scrape off THAT much skin-- no blood or anything!-- but it made my foot sore to walk on for a week until the skin healed! Felt like I scraped my skin off (oh yeah, I did!), similar to scraped knee from falling on the sidewalk.

So, what I've decided to do is ditch the "cheese grater" and get a professional pedicure from a well-known, respected spa once a year (I'll do my research). The other days, I have been using a pumice stone in the shower, then Aquafor on my heels (within 3 minutes of toweling off to keep in the moisture) and covering my feet with socks before bed. In the AM and during the day, I lotion up my feet a few times; there is some great peppermint-fragrance lotion for your footsies!

This regimen works GREAT, and no more grating my skin for silky smooth heels.

I like to walk around barefoot or in clogs, so my heels get dry and cracked, too. The Ped Egg looks a bit too scary to me. I like to use foot lotions and a pumice stone, myself.
